Margaret has been involved in the primary sector for 35 years, including nineteen years as head teacher of two schools. This experience enables her to provide invaluable support to head teachers and aspiring leaders. Recent, highly acclaimed work has included a series of Leadership workshops for a variety of client groups, and the facilitation of Action Learning Sets for head teachers.
Margaret is committed to helping schools make the most of the opportunities offered within a Curriculum for Excellence. She has been pivotal in the development of the Joyning the Learning materials and courses which help schools develop an interdisciplinary approach to learning and teaching. Her publication ‘Joyning the Learning – The Journey So Far’ will assist teachers and promoted staff in the process of curriculum development.
With a keen interest in the management of change, Margaret has a real sense of how initiatives such as AiFl, enterprise, creativity, collaborative learning etc, can become embedded in classroom practice. The Determined to Succeed national training programme is a recent example of a course where she helped teachers make these connections.
Margaret is currently turning her attention to helping schools engage with the experiences and outcomes of CfE. Working with the Learning Unlimited team, she has designed new training courses. The process of ‘backward mapping’ will help teachers become familiar with the outcomes and build confidence in their use. The process of ‘forward mapping’ will put the experiences and outcomes at the heart of planned work. These new courses are now available and Margaret will be happy to discuss models of delivery to suit school needs.
Here is what people say about Margaret’s courses:
