We also believe that the most effective form of motivation is self-motivation. We cannot impose self-motivation on children, but by creating the optimal learning climate, we can create the conditions within which self-motivation is most likely to flourish.
We currently have four publications on motivation:
PLC Toolkit The PLC Toolkit is aimed at senior managers, middle managers and teachers. The 3 booklets within the PLC Toolkit describe The Rationale, The Practice and The Process of Professional Learning Communities.
Motivation & Assessment Posters These posters are designed to attract pupils in the age range 10 – 16 and their teachers. They aim to be thought-provoking but reassuring and are intended to encourage interactive discussion. Full of motivational messages they can be used to highlight how learning involves dealing with setbacks, valuing improvement as well as performance, working with others and asking good questions.
Journey 2 Motivation pack Aimed at upper primary / early secondary students this introduces young people to how motivation works. This comprehensive pack gives teacher what they need to motivate their pupils.
WHY: a booklet about motivating young people In this short easy to read booklet, Ian Smith answers questions posed by teachers at his workshops on motivation and addresses three WHY questions which point the way towards how teachers help students to be self-motivated.
NEW - PLC Toolkit This Toolkit of resources has been designed to provide information and materials that can be used to make the whole staff aware of the approaches it advocates and play a part in deciding how the school will take PLCs forward.
