Professional Learning Community Toolkit

The Professional Learning Community (PLC) Toolkit is designed to help schools set up and support professional learning communities where teachers volunteer to work together to:

  1. ‘Go deep’ and reflect on how they challenge and support young people to learning in their classrooms
  2. Help each other take action to improve pupils’ learning
  3. Show how these improvements are working for them and their pupils

The approach outlined in the Toolkit requires a commitment from:

  • Teachers to ‘dig deeper’ to examine their practice in the classroom
  • The school to provide time to help teachers support each other to do this
  • School leaders to make membership of PLCs voluntary
